Huawei All-Flash Storage Receives DEKRA Seal of Approval

Huawei All-Flash Storage was the first data storage solution in the world to be awarded Dekra certification for compliance with a narrow carbon footprint (ISO14067). The DEKRA test seal stands for the energy efficiency of the storage systems.

The manufacturer states that the operation of data centers will account for around 4.5 percent of total global energy consumption by 2025. High energy efficiency is therefore essential and of central importance for IT components. In view of the ever-increasing volumes of data, the data storage infrastructure in particular is a component of the IT environment that requires a particularly large amount of energy.

For the certification of Huawei OceanStor All-Flash Storage, DEKRA's team of experts measured and verified the lifecycle carbon footprint according to ISO14067:2018 standards. The award of the Dekra certificate and Dekra seal emphasize Huawei's innovative, sustainable approach.

"In line with the global consensus on green development, Huawei Storage is committed to leading society toward sustainable progress through technological innovation," said Pang Xin, vice president of Huawei Data Storage Production Line, during the official announcement in Shenzhen on July 28. "Huawei integrates the concept of circular economy into the entire lifecycle of OceanStor all-flash storage products to create a green data foundation for enterprises. The award of the DEKRA certificate for the carbon footprint of the storage products and the DEKRA seal is also a recognition of Huawei's active participation in the implementation of green development."
